An Update on my Upcoming Films

I’m actively working on my Thomas the Tank Engine fan series, consisting of several short-films that serve as character pieces. While the size and scale of each video varies, they are all interlinked with an overarching background narrative and a general interest in/adherence to horror genre conventions. Three full episodes are already viewable on my Youtube channel, and another five scripts have been finalized, now in pre-production for filming.

Since the third episode’s release on Halloween 2019, I’ve taken my time to truly refine the different narratives I want to tell going forward, ensuring that I give each topic the attention and destigmatized representation it deserves. More specifically to the currently-finalized scripts, I have been exploring the effects of trauma, as well as the negative consequences of harmful coping mechanisms, for different characters through the lens of the Thomas the Tank Engine universe.

My thought process in applying more serious circumstances to a seemingly innocent world is not as deviant from the source material as some might expect. These inhuman characters’ traumas are already largely established in the televised series. Focusing more directly on the mental health angle in my own interpretation simply allows a broader range of audiences, of various identities, to fully relate to their experiences, perhaps even learning things they would not have previously considered.

See below for the three published installments of my Thomas the Tank Engine fan series:

“Stay Away From the Accordion Girl” is an adaptation of the short-story of the same name by Johnathan Balog! This episode was my first attempt at a fully scripted video.
“Buy the Farm” was my first original script and my first time experimenting with darker themes of anger and isolation.
“Befuddlement on the Branchline” is a lighthearted homage to the classic “Scooby-Doo! Where are you?” TV show with Thomas the Tank Engine characters, mashing together the writing conventions and stylistic features of both franchises.
